EUGLOH Photo Contest 2023: Celebrating Campus Life and Creativity

Each year, EUGLOH makes strides in developing and drawing attention to student involvement in the Alliance. The EUGLOH Photo Contest is one of our most successful initiatives in terms of participation and is a great example of how these formats serve to empower student engagement, and highlight their contributions to our community.

Last October, the 2023 edition of the contest was launched under the theme My campus with a thousand faces. Students from all nine partner universities of the Alliance were encouraged to capture moments of tranquillity and relaxation on their respective university campuses, and to submit them for the contest. The prize for the winner included a trip to Szeged to participate in a photography course.

In total, 24 applications were received for the contest, providing a snapshot of the vibrant campus life that exists across the Alliance. The photos were judged on an anonymous basis by a jury comprised of representatives from each of the partner universities. After careful (and extensive) deliberation, the jury selected the following three winners.

Paul Feuerböther, from Universität Hamburg (UHH), submitted a contrasted image with glimmers characteristic of a late sunset. Paloma Rodríguez Martínez, from University of Alcalá (UAH), showcased a natural photo with the addition of students on campus. Finally, from University of Porto (UPorto), Joana Jesus presented a contrast of a yellowish and violet sky typical of the end of a student's day.

As contest winners, these three students have been awarded the opportunity to travel to Szeged in June 2024 and participate in a photography course fully-funded by EUGLOH.
