Seed Money Programme

The EUGLOH Seed Money Programme aims to enable teachers to create new joint learning pathways. By using the strengths of the respective universities, the EUGLOH partners can help tackle the global health challenges that society faces, in a very broad sense. The programme also offers teachers the opportunity for international contacts, by working with other teachers at the EUGLOH partner universities.

The courses that are to be developed are intended to be part of the course offer for EUGLOH students.

The seed money for approved projects can be used for covering salaries, costs for travel and meetings as well as other costs. The partners will share the funding as outlined in their application.

How to apply

The next deadline for applications is 1 February 2025.

In November 2023 there was a webinar about the Seed Money Programme. You can watch the recording of the webinar here.

Templates as well as the links to apply can be found under each category below. Please note that signatures are needed from the heads of departments (or dean, vice rector or other authorized level) at all the institutions involved as well as signatures from the participating teachers.

Selection process and reports

A review board will prepare a suggestion to the Work Package task group “Joint Learning Pathways” on which applications to support. The task group will then make the final decision. The results will be communicated in March.

Four months after the approval of a project, the project managers are requested to send a brief progress report (one page). After the completion of the project, a written report on the progress and challenges faced during the co-creation process, as well as a summary of the next actions should be submitted together with the documents on how the COIL, course or programme will be carried out.

A financial report has to be made in accordance with instructions from the EUGLOH Institutional Manager at the respective partner university. Deadline for the reports are 15 months after the approval of the proposal.

How to find teachers for collaborations

If you need help with finding contacts at the other EUGLOH partners you can make use of the EUGLOH Visiting Guest Lecturer Programme. You can read more about the programme here.

  • Seed money for Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL)

A COIL is a common virtual component of existing courses in which students collaborate. At least two different partner universities must be involved. The seed money of up to 10 000€ per COIL are to be split between the partners. In this call, up to two COILs can get support.

    • The COIL should help students develop their transversal skills, as defined in the EUGLOH Competences Framework.
    • The COIL should have an interdisciplinary or cross-disciplinary approach and the relevance of the courses to society and global health, in a broad sense, must be clear.
    • The COIL must make use of already existing courses at Bachelor or Master level. Each partner will be doing the examination of their own students and follow their local syllabuses.
    • The pedagogical methods must be student centred, innovative, and adequate.
    • The workload of the COIL should correspond to between 2 and 4 ECTS.
    • The COILs should involve 30 or more students from the partners involved in the COIL.

The template for proposing the development of COIL can be downloaded here.

The application will open in October.

  • Seed money for developing courses

The intention of developing the course should be that it will later be part of the EUGLOH course offer in one of the relevant EUGLOH Work Packages or held as an Erasmus Blended Intensive Programme (BIP). The partners must have the intention that the course can be offered multiple times. The seed money of up to 15 000€ per course needs to be split between two partners or more. Up to four courses can get seed money in this call. Only virtual courses or courses that run as BIPs will be supported.

    • The courses should help students develop transversal skills as defined in the EUGLOH Competences Framework.
    • The course should have an interdisciplinary or cross disciplinary approach and the relevance of the course to society and global health must be clear.
    • At least two EUGLOH partners must be involved in developing the course. Teachers from additional partners can be involved in the course later as guest teachers. When running a BIP, a minimum involvement of three partners is required.
    • The pedagogical methods used in the course must be student centred, innovative and adequate.
    • The course should be credit bearing and between 3 and 7 ECTS and run at either Bachelor or Master level.
    • The courses should be designed to have 50 or more students participating.

The template for proposing the development of a course can be downloaded here.

The application will open in October.

  • Seed money for developing programmes

The programme developed can be a Master’s Programme of between 60 and 120 ECTS. The joint programme can be developed with the intention of applying for an Erasmus Mundus Joint Programme, but it is not a requirement.

The seed money of up to 50 000€ per programme needs to be split between three partners or more. Up to two programmes can be supported in this call.

    • The programme should help students develop transversal skills as defined in the EUGLOH Competences Framework.
    • The programme should have an interdisciplinary or cross disciplinary approach and the relevance of the programme to society and global health must be clear.
    • At least three EUGLOH partners must be involved in developing the programme. One or several partners from outside the Alliance can be included as well. One of the EUGLOH partners will take upon itself to be the coordinating partner of the programme.
    • The pedagogical methods must be student centred, innovative and adequate. The fact that at least three partners are involved in the program does not necessarily mean that the students must move around between three cities. With online components and teacher mobility the students can still benefit from the expertise of the universities without having to move around.
    • The subject of the programme should be new or have an innovative angle, and there must be a realistic demand for the programme by students and employers.

The template for proposing the development of a course can be downloaded here.

The application will open in October.
